Information
From the Camargue to the Côte Vermeille, the spectacular coastline of Languedoc-Roussillon stretches for 150 miles along the Mediterranean Sea. It has some of the finest French beaches, a warm climate and clear waters that are thought to promote health with more than 40 of them flying the blue flag, the European award for clean bathing water.
A mix of family holiday resorts, health spas and ancient fishing villages cluster along the shore, backed by a hinterland of untouched natural beauty. Its a perfect combination for family vacations.
This is a land where traditions are still part of everyday life. Ancient crafts still thrive in the beautiful region known as the Camargue: sauniers produce salt, sagneurs cut reeds for thatch and mattresses.
Languedoc-Roussillon beaches Regattas, cruises, fishing contests and wind surfing events draw the crowds to lively modern resorts such as Port-Camargue, Europe’s premier sailing resort, la Grande-Motte, with its bold architecture, and Cap d’Agde, Gruissan, Port-Leucate, Port-Barcarès and Saint-Cyprien
La Plage...
The marina at Cap D'Agde is lined with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, all with tables and chairs out on the pavement facing the water. These are an ideal place to while away a few hours sipping cool drinks and watching the world go by.
Walk away from the port and you will discover that Cap D'Agde is much more than just a few bars and restaurants. This place is like an enormous seaside playground, with beaches, sports centres, nightclubs, children's areas, golf and much more... if you're interested in an all over tan, Cap D'Agde has Europe's largest naturist complex.
Cap D'Agde has about 14 km of sandy beaches to choose from, weather you're looking for a large expanse of golden sand dotted with smart beachfront cafes, or a small cove of rocky outcrops ideal for snorkelling.
Just off shore is a small volcanic island on which stands the 16th century Fort Brescou. A former prison (a kind of baby Alcatraz) and now a popular place to picnic and snorkel.
These large sandy beaches and the Languedoc's warm winds make Cap D'Agde an ideal venue for kite flying, kite surfing windsurfing and sailing.
